MARION DUFOUR INKTimes #06

Hello, I’m Marion Dufour. I am a graphic designer and illustrator and I work from Aubervilliers (nearby Paris), where my studio is located.
I started my work about ten years ago, after my college degree in art direction and graphic design. At first, I used to work for the communication industry in graphic design, then, by complementarity, I was caught up by my first love: illustration.

How would you describe your work today?

Today, I navigate between professional and personal projects. I work on various media: posters, communication, motion, digital and some personal projects related to small editions.
I evolve in a universe full of colors, naivety and energy. My work is inspired by my daily life. Indeed, I like to tell all those moments, whether big or small. I observe a lot, always trying to keep a child’s eye on the world around me.

Can you briefly tell us about your creative process?

Generally speaking, I would say that I’m an intuitive person. I adapt my method to every project. I like to immerse myself completely in different worlds.
I always start by writing and playing with words. I need to clarify the subject in my mind before I even start to draw. Fun fact, It’s almost the same when I work on my color palettes, often bright and soft at the same time.
My work mixes traditional and digital techniques, as much for the manufacturing and printing processes (digital, silkscreen, linocut…) as for the illustration: I enjoy my freedom and the possibility of drawing from anywhere with only paper, black ink, some colored pencils, Poscas and my iPad.

Where can we currently find your work?

To check out more of my work, you can visit my instagram or my website. You can also find some print to buy on my Etsy shop.

You artwork for this watch can you tell us about this series ?

It’s the beginning of the beautiful season, spring is coming and these drawings are naturally born from my desire to travel, hike and walk in nature. In this series of illustrations, I explore several states of mind such as contemplation, small joys of everyday life and serenity.

Are you developing new projects?

I’m still working on commissioned illustration and I’m just starting a very special personal project. This time, it’s related to themes that I care about: children’s illustration and music. This is only the beginning but I hope to tell you more soon 🙂
